Questions and Answers from Alliance Devs!
by on 4/17/2024Did you miss out on last week's epic Q&A with the Kingdom Rush Alliance devs? Fear not, here's a quick recap of (most of) the questions and their answers. Let's dive in!
Q: How long have you been working on Kingdom Rush 5?
A: We've been at it for over two and a half years now. Started back in February 2022 and it's been quite the journey getting it ready for the big release on July 25th.
Q: Why add the option to use two heroes at once?
A: We wanted to shake things up and inject some fresh dynamics into the gameplay. Allowing players to control two heroes simultaneously opens up new strategic possibilities and new dynamics in the game.
Q: How many stages are there in the main campaign?
A: There are a total of 16 stages to conquer in the main campaign, each with its unique challenges.
Q: Are there any returning heroes or towers?
A: We've brought back some fan-favorite iconic towers to give players a nostalgic nod to the past Kingdom Rush games, especially the trilogy. That's why we have the classic Paladins, the Royal Archers, the Arcane Mages and Necromancers. However, we've also introduced a host of new heroes to keep things fresh and exciting.
Q: Who is the Overseer?
A: The Overseer is an interdimensional creature that feasts on worldsHe's a world-devouring entity with a voracious appetite for destruction. We see this creature on Iron Marines and also in Legends. He's trapped outside of space and time, so he can be in many different places at almost the same time.
Q: When does Alliance take place? Is it before Legends or after?
A: Alliance picks up a few months after the events of Vengeance, but it also overlaps with the timeline of Legends. In summary, until a certain point in the game both games are in parallel, but then the Alliance will continue from where we left off in Legends of Kingdom Rush.
Q: Can we expect updates when the game is released?
A: Absolutely! We've got big plans for post-release content, including new campaigns, heroes, and towers.
Q: Will Alliance be a more challenging game?
A: We're trying to go for more Frontiers and Origins experience. Controlling two heroes adds a whole new level of challenge to the game. Waves are going to be a little bit more charged and the pacing increases on some levels. It starts low, then it goes up.
Q: Do we get two hero abilities?
A: Indeed you do! With two heroes at your disposal, you'll have access to a wide range of abilities. Instead of having your Rain of Fire, you will have the second hero spell. There are many combinations to try. Some heroes are better at certain tasks than others, so we like the idea of you actually mixing and matching them the way you see fit.
Q: Why does Vez’nan not fight himself?
A: His strengths are reserved for more powerful creatures.
Q: How many heroes are there, and how many will be free?
A: In the mobile version there will be 12 heroes and 15 towers. The 4 free Heroes are Vesper, Raelyn, Nyru and Grimson. Two from the Linirea and two from the Dark Army faction.
Q: What was the best part about creating Kingdom Rush Alliance?
A: For us, it's all about the creative process. Crafting new characters, designing unique abilities, and weaving them into the fabric of the Kingdom Rush universe is incredibly rewarding. It's a labor of love, and we're thrilled to share it with our players.
Q: Will there be an Encyclopedia?
A: While there won't be a traditional Encyclopedia in the game, we've implemented a handy pop-up feature that you can open anytime you encounter an enemy, and provides players with all the information they need about enemies and units during battles. It's a convenient way to stay informed without interrupting the action.
Q: Why didn't the Saurians join the Dark Army?
A: They are actually their own kind of thing. They like to be left alone.
Q: Will this be the final installment of the Kingdom Rush series?
A: The short and only answer I can give is no, it won’t be the last one. Beat the overseer and see what comes after that.
